Amazon Kicks Off Summer With Back-To-College Store Launch

Amazon has launched its Off-to-College store, which the retailer characterizes as the ultimate destination for college shopping needs, with home decor and housewares playing a key role.

The virtual destination features easy-to-shop low-price essentials for dorm, classes and extracurricular activities in one place, noted Amazon, all designed to ensure that collegians can get what they need for fall without wasting summer vacation time.

A new element in this year’s college store function is the inclusion of model and Internet celebrity Ava Phillippe, who shares dorm room must-haves. Customers can shop Ava’s picks or browse college influencer-curated style guides, such as earthy artsy, casual throwback, modern minimal and eclectic chic.

Amazon’s college store will run deals every day, and Prime Student members will enjoy exclusive perks for shopping, the company said.

In home and housewares categories, the store is offering an extensive range of deals on everything from Panasonic compact hair dryers to Novogratz furniture to Eureka vacuums to Hamilton Beach air purifiers. Savings are also featured on small kitchen appliances and floor care.

“We want to support students and parents with everything they need to make the transition to campus life comfortable this year,” said Cem Sibay, vp/Amazon Prime. “The combination of Prime Student’s convenient shopping and entertainment benefits and our Off-to-College store’s incredible deals allows students and parents to stretch every dollar, while keeping all of the fun and excitement that comes with getting ready for college.”
