Amazon.com revealed plans to open another fulfillment center, with a new 600,000-square foot facility planned for Braselton, GA.
When opened, Amazon said it will create more than 500 new full-time jobs at the facility. The company currently has more than 1,500 full-time employees at its existing facilities in the state.
“We are excited to expand in the state of Georgia and add a new fulfillment center to better serve our customers in the region,” said Akash Chauhan, vp/Amazon’s North America operations.
Amazon employees at the new fulfillment center, located approximately 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, will pick, pack and ship large items for customers, such as household décor items, sporting equipment and gardening tools.
