Meijer’s free digital savings program, mPerks, turned five years old this week. The company noted that mPerks has almost four million members who have clipped more than one billion digital coupons, with total savings surpassing $400 million over the past five years.
The program has generated $100 million in savings to customers this year alone, according to the company.
In that time, mPerks evolved into a multifaceted rewards program, Meijer asserted. Launched to help customers save money at the register by offering a faster and more convenient way of clipping coupons, mPerks today offers personalized rewards and digital tools that help customers plan their shopping trip from home. Frequent users are saving an average of 15% per year under the program, Meijer maintained. As such, the retailer pointed out, mPerks has managed to generate a redemption rate that is four times higher than the national coupon program average.
“The popularity of digital coupons and shopping apps is at an all-time high as price-conscious shoppers are realizing how much their iPads, tablets and mobile phones can be used as a tool to help stretch family budgets,” said Michael Ross, Meijer vp/digital shopping and customer marketing. “We’re especially proud that so many of our customers are taking advantage of the time- and money-saving resources we offer and continue to enhance.”
