As Sears Holdings works through bankruptcy proceedings, the struggling retailer is moving forward with its holiday plans, announcing doorbuster deals for its Sears and Kmart stores.
The company emphasized that shelves would be well stocked for the holidays and that it plans to support stores with emotion-laden marketing designed to drive traffic. Marketing will particularly emphasize great deals, products and trusted brands.
Sears stores will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22, and close at midnight, the company reported. Stores will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday, November 23, but shoppers can check Sears.com/stores for details about exact hours at their nearest store location. Shoppers also can tap Sears doorbuster deals online at Sears.com as well as in-store on Thanksgiving and Black Friday or while supplies last. Top doorbuster deals include a Kenmore Elite Ovation Stand Mixer for $249.99, down from the regular price of $399.99.
Kmart stores will open at 6 a.m. on November 22 and close at midnight. Top Kmart doorbuster deals include a Proctor Silex 5-speed hand mixer, 2-slice toaster, can opener and iron for $4.99 each, down from a regular price of $9.99.
Sears said that its namesake and Kmart stores will maintain competitive pricing and product assortment this shopping season, but unlike previous years, the banners will tap into shopper sentiment regarding company brands with new marketing themes. From now until December 24, Sears will feature a Dashing through the Deals push that spotlights savings in the company’s legacy brands, both private and national, including Kenmore, Craftsman, Diehard, Everlast and Levi’s in product categories such as home appliances, apparel, tools and lawn and garden.
At Kmart’s, the theme Holly Jolly, Yule Love will drive a marketing campaign focused heavily on toys.
