In upholstered goods introduced at the Summer Las Vegas Market, solids are gaining, often in neutral and more softly toned colors than had been the case in previous shows recently. But striking patterns that provide room setting excitement remain important, such as styles introduced by Office Star Products.
In one example from a friend who does furniture reupholstery in Orange County, Office Star mixes browns and greens in a diamond pattern that makes a statement and a retro reference back to the late middle of the last century.
Colors such as charcoal and cream have become more evident in the market, although they might be early in the trend cycle. Vendors see more demand for muted upholstery colors that are still bright but somewhat restrained. Although wary of using the word pastel, vendors acknowledge that some colorways are moving toward that range as consumers look to bring soothing elements into room environments after favoring brighter tones and bold patterns for the past few years.
The show, at the Las Vegas World Market Center, closes tomorrow, August 6.
