Census Bureau: Sales Slip From Pre-recession Levels For Cooking Appliance Manufacturers

According to the United States Census Bureau, household cooking appliance manufacturing establishments felt negative impact from the recession. In 2012, shipments from the manufacturers totaled $4.3 billion in 2012, down 10.8% from $4.9 billion in 2007, prior to the recession.


Household cooking appliance manufacturers employed 10,324 people in 2012, down 34% from 2007. The average number of employees per establishment decreased 20.1% to 109 in 2012. However, average payroll per employee increased 23% to $37,143 in the five-year period.
