Staples has unveiled its gift promotion for school graduates at the same time it is announcing a product expansion in Dallas stores that will roll out to 1,000 locations in the United States alone. Together, the initiatives demonstrate Staples commitment to becoming a more comprehensive source for consumer and business needs.
For school’s end, Staples and a new operation it has launched, the new Staples College Center online, offer an array of grad-oriented products from tablets such as the Microsoft Surface Pro 2, Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab4 7 inch and 10.1 inch, and Kindle Fire HD as well as smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S5. Electronics accessories are also part of the promotion, as are dorm decor and dorm essentials including cleaning and organizing products in addition to small appliances.
In Fact, Dorm Decor and Dorm Essentials are two featured categories in the back-to-school focused College Center along with Technology and Gift Cards.
“From the classroom to the dorm room, Staples has great gifts to get soon-to-be grads ready for college,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vp/stores and online marketing at Staples. “Whether shopping in store, online, on mobile devices or on our in-store kiosks, customers will find gadgets and gear to get graduates fully prepared for their next journey in life.”
In Dallas, Staples has debuted eight new product categories— whether freshly added or established with expansion and identification of product sets— in its Dallas retail stores. By adding the products, Staples intends intended to help business customers “Make More One-stop Shopping Happen,” the company stated. The product expansion is rolling out to more than 1,000 stores across the U.S. and hundreds more in Canada, Staples noted. The new products include storage solution items in the form of various-sized containers as well as organizational accessories from the Poppin brand. New products also can be found under the designations gifts and cards, early education toys and learning aids, facilities and breakroom supplies, maintenance repair and operations items, mail and ship, padded envelopes, boxes, medical supplies, and retail supplies for small businesses such as mobile POS, bags, bows and signage.
Staples asserted that extensive customer tests over the past year supported the product line expansion. Stores that mount the new items will feature an updated Staples.com kiosk, providing customers with access to more items on Staples.com, the retailer maintained.
“We’re helping small business customers get more done in one stop by providing every product their businesses need,” said Mike Edwards, executive vp/merchandising, Staples. “The new categories we’ve added to our stores build on our expanded Staples.com assortment and give customers more of what they want to Make More Happen whether it’s in-store, online or via mobile.”
Staples added that it is refreshing nearly 20% of the product assortment in its stores, adding about 1,600 items in categories beyond office supplies. At the same, time the company is removing about 1,000 items as it reconfigures its assortment of office supply essentials.
