In a move to deal with market disruptions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, Dallas Market Center will hold the Dallas Lighting Expo from August 19 to 21.
The company billed the event as an opportunity for exhibitors to highlight new products before the January 7 to 10, 2021 edition of Lightovation, its showcase of new lighting and ceiling fan products. The company cancelled the summer edition of Lightovation amidst concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.
Dallas Lighting Expo already has more than 25 companies committed to participating, and it will run concurrently with the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, August 19 to 25. The timing enables crossover buying for participants of both shows. Those participants will encounter health and safety measures during the joint event including requirements for masks, temperature checks and social distancing.
To gauge buyer interest in the expo event, Dallas Market Center conducted a survey of lighting retailers. Enthusiasm for participation was particularly strong in Texas and surrounding states, DMC maintained. Exhibitor participation is voluntary on the third and fourth floors of the Trade Mart, with commitments continuing to come in.
“Retailers, especially ones located in this part of the country, are eager to review what’s new and to place orders months in advance of the next Lightovation show,” said Cindy Morris, Dallas Market Center president and CEO. “Based upon their feedback and in cooperation with lighting exhibitors, we’re creating this concise event that will help support retail as it ramps back up.”
