Dollar General Corp. has started construction on a new distribution center in Janesville, WI. The center will be the 14th facility in Dollar General’s growing distribution network, the company noted.
The approximately one million square-foot distribution center will serve about 1,000 stores in Wisconsin and surrounding states, Dollar General noted. The company currently operates 122 stores in Wisconsin. The retailer’s other distribution centers are located in Alabama, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
Dollar General stated that it plans to begin hiring for the facility late next summer with operations expected to begin in the December following.
“This state-of-the-art distribution center will help support our growth throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General CEO. “Janesville provides a great location, a strong business environment and a great workforce to draw from to fill the 550 jobs that are anticipated to be created by this new distribution center.”
