Today, Dollar General Corp. announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art distribution center in San Antonio, TX. It will be the 13th facility in the retailer’s growing distribution network, Dollar General stated.
The company has begun preparing to build a 900,000-square-foot or larger facility on 110 acres at South Foster Industrial Park, it noted. At full capacity, Dollar General facility expects the DC to employ more than 530 people and serve more than 1,000 stores in Texas and the surrounding region, it maintained.
“This distribution center is another important investment in the growth of Dollar General and our substantial presence in Texas where we have nearly 1,200 stores and more than 9,400 employees,” Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO of Dollar General, said in announcing the DC initiative. “We operate more stores in the Lone Star state than in any other state.”
Dollar General’s 12 extant distribution centers operate in Alabama, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.
