eBay Initiatives Support Small Business Week

To celebrate National Small Business Week, eBay has unveiled a set of partnerships and entrepreneurial initiatives in support of small- and mid-sized businesses across the U.S.

In addition to expanding its Retail Revival program, which helps small businesses develop effective online operations, to a sixth city, Baton Rouge, LA, eBay noted that it would join Daymond John, recognized for his panelist appearances on “Shark Tank,” in a May 9 virtual conference that will provide small business owners tips, tricks and advice for success. John will provide his experience as a businessman and investor by answering questions via Instagram Live on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. eastern time focusing on empowerment and expansion through e-commerce.

In addition, eBay has kicked off the company’s 14th annual Seller Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. The  two-day event involves 24 sellers from 20 states meeting with Congress members on issues facing small business.

Also, eBay is also partnering with the SCORE Foundation, the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert and business mentors, and making a $50,000 donation to benefit nearly 150 small businesses. In the same vein, the company is holding the fourth annual Shine Awards for Small Business, sponsored by Intuit, which prompts sellers to submit their stories for a chance to win $15,000, a trip to the eBay Open and business exposure.

Steve Wymer, eBay svp/chief communications officer, said, “eBay is built on the invaluable contributions of small businesses around the world, and we jump at every opportunity to lift them up and show our appreciation. This week, we’re standing alongside our sellers nationwide to put a spotlight on their needs, while also providing resources and guidance to support their success.”
