eBay Rolls Out Refurbished Product Program

At a time when reusing products has become a more prominent practice, eBay is launching a new destination to feature officially Certified Refurbished products, direct from brands including DeLonghi, Dirt Devil, Hoover, Makita, Philips, Cuisinart, KitchenAid, Miele and Razer.

The new program arrives in time for the holidays and offers shoppers up to 50% off on products that are guaranteed by the manufacturers to look, feel and work like new and come with a two-year Allstate warranty.

Only brands that meet eBay Certified Refurbished criteria qualify for the program. Products sold under the refurbished qualifications require an item be in a pristine, like-new condition, and so has to be professionally inspected, cleaned and reconditioned by the manufacturer, or a manufacturer-approved vendor. The item also must be in new packaging with original or new accessories.

According to eBay, the company launched the Certified Refurbished program and destination to meet demand for certified reconditioned products. As the holidays approached, eBay noted that nearly 78% of consumers in the United States said in a study that they would welcome a refurbished electronic gift this season.

“Demand for refurbished products has surged, and by securing exclusive rights to inventory sold directly from the most popular manufacturers, eBay is changing the way people shop this category,” said Jordan Sweetnam, svp/general manager for eBay’s North America Market. “eBay shoppers tend to focus on value, which has helped make these products so popular. With this new Certified Refurbished destination, we’re doing a better job of helping customers discover inventory sold direct from the brands they love and feel confident they will be blown away by the quality.”
