eMarketer: Voice Commerce Hasn’t Convinced Consumers Yet

According to an eMarketer analysis, consumers haven’t embraced the prospect of voice commerce, at least not yet.

The company cited a Chatmeter study conducted by Sapio Research in October of last year stating that almost half of consumers who have the relevant technology never make a purchase via a smartphone voice assistant or a smart speaker.

Broken out, 51% of women stated that they never make a purchase using voice commerce as did 41% of men. Only 8% of men and 5% of women make a voice commerce purchase every day, according to the study. In the same vein, 7% of men and 6% of women reported making a voice commerce purchase two to three times a week, and 5% of men and the same proportion of women maintained they make such a purchase once a week.

At broader timescales, 12% of men and 10% of women reported that they make a voice commerce purchase two to three times a month and 8% of men and 6% of women maintained they make such a purchase once a month.
