Food Lion has completed a $40 million capital investment project in 23 Virginia locations that included store remodels and the hiring of 400 additional associates.
The stores are located in the greater Charlottesville and Harrisonburg markets.
“We’ve created a new grocery shopping experience through the significant investments in our stores, associates and communities,” said Meg Ham, president of Food Lion. “From our expanded variety and product assortment to our newly reorganized stores, every change we’ve made will make it easier for our customers to find the quality products they have come to expect from Food Lion.”
Among the features of the remodeled stores are expanded assortments of local produce, the addition of walk-in produce coolers at two locations and a more efficient checkout process.
According to the company, Food Lion now has remodeled 80% of its network of more than 1,000 stores across its 10-state operating area.
