Former Norelco CEO Dinley Passes

Retired small appliance industry veteran Patrick Dinley passed away December 10 at his Delray Beach, FL, home following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 76.

Dinley joined shaver manufacturer Norelco in 1977 as a regional sales manager, moving through the ranks to vp/sales in 1981 before being named president and CEO in 1991 of the organization that became known as Philips Domestic Appliance & Personal Care.

Following early-career positions at Xerox and Thompson Imperial, Dinley began a 40-year career in the small appliance business when he joined General Electric as a sales associate in 1966. He spent 10 years at GE before joining Norelco.

Among his many accomplishments at Norelco, Dinley was credited for reprising the famous holiday television commercial featuring an animated Santa Claus sledding over snow hills on a Norelco shaver with the tagline, “Nöelco—even our name says “Merry Christmas.”

Dinley in 2000 received a Lifetime Humanitarian Award from the Housewares Charity Foundation for his humanitarian efforts and exceptional leadership. He retired from the housewares industry in 2002.

Dinley started PROforma Communications Group with his son, Brian, in 2002, later adding his daughter, Bryce, to the team. PROforma is a leader in promotional products, commercial printing, corporate apparel and e-commerce solutions.

Dinley is survived by his wife, Connie, of nearly 50 years; daughter and son-in-law, Brigg and Peter Hyland of New Fairfield, Connecticut; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Leigh Dinley of West Palm Beach, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Bryce and Jason Fulton of Wellington, Florida, and grandchildren Thompson and Bronwyn Hyland, and Burke and Bergen Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gift donations be made in Patrick Dinley’s name to: Trustbridge, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or call (561) 494-6888 for additional information or donation form.
