Giant Co. plans to open its first urban flagship supermarket in Philadelphia on March 19.
The new, two-level location by the Carlisle, PA-based retailer joins standard Giant grocery formats in Philadelphia and offers an innovative design and curated assortment as part of the Logan Square neighborhood’s new Riverwalk mixed-use development project. The 65,000 square-foot-store opens on the second floor of a 25-story residential tower with a design that fuses elements inspired by Giant’s heritage, as well as its Heirloom Market format in signature red and black colors.
The new store features a food hall; produce, meat and seafood departments; and household essentials and seasonal items.
News on the Philadelphia store follows the announcement that Giant had partnered with Swisslot to provide automation technology for the company’s Giant Direct e-commerce fulfillment center in the city, including robotic storage and retrieval.
