The Global Market Development Center (GMDC) has appointed Steve Davis as the new chairman of its board of directors. Davis also serves as the chairman of the GMDC executive committee.
According to the company, Davis’ experience includes a diverse career in food retailing that spans both the general merchandise and health beauty wellness categories. Davis is director of center store, gm/hbc and grocery nonfoods of Weis Markets, Inc.
The company also appointed new members of the 2016 GMDC executive committee. Tim Buskey, vp/consumer health, AmerisourceBergen, was appointed vice chairman of the board. Patty Fishman, vp of hbc/gm merchandising, Supervalu, was appointed board secretary and treasurer. Karen Bakewell, director gm/hbc, SpartanNash, was appointed education leadership council co-chairperson. Mike Bloom, president and chief operating officer, Fred’s Inc., was appointed board liaise to the education leadership council. Peter Fahrenkopf, vp/stationery and household sales, ShurTech Brands, was appointed board co-chairperson. Dan Figus, vp/field sales organization, Johnson & Johnson Inc., was appointed health beauty wellness board co-chairperson. Dave Jones, vp/industry initiatives, Kellogg USA, was appointed GMDC membership advisory board co-chairperson.
