GoodCook, a division of Bradshaw Home, continues its partnership with the Emeril Lagasse Foundation through its support of Emeril’s Culinary Garden & Teaching Kitchen. Established by the foundation, the program integrates culinary gardens and teaching kitchens in schools to create interactive learning environments centered on food.
Emeril’s Culinary Garden & Teaching Kitchen provides each participating school with a five-year grant to assist with implementing the program, which includes non-electric cooking tools provided by GoodCook, a unique K-8 cooking and gardening curriculum aligned with national academic standards, and membership in a community of practice where teachers share and learn effective approaches to gardening and cooking instruction.
According to GoodCook, the program is currently being implemented in Louisiana and Texas and recently announced that two schools, DC Bilingual Public Charter School in Washington DC; and Starlight Elementary School in Watsonville, CA, have been selected as the newest school sites for its national education program.
“As Emeril’s Culinary Garden & Teaching Kitchen schools shift to virtual, we have worked with the program’s team to provide students with the necessary tools, gadgets, bakeware and cookware they would need to be successful,” said Julie Lawson, brand director, Bradshaw Home. “The program was designed to provide opportunities for students to learn kitchen skills that ultimately they will use at home, so we’re excited to bring GoodCook to their kitchens.”
