Gordman’s Adds Store, Looks For New Merchandising Chief

Gordmans, Inc., the Nebraska-based apparel and home décor retailer, is opening three new stores. In addition, the company has reported in a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission that Michael Morand, executive vp and chief merchandising officer, has resigned.

On July 17, the company will open a new 50,000-square-foot store at Arnold Crossroads Shopping Center, Arnold, Mo. On the same date, the company will open two additional 50,000 square foot stores in Michigan. One will debut at Saginaw Square Shopping Center in Saginaw and the other in the Wilsontown Shopping Center in Wyoming near Grand Rapids.

Until Morand is replaced, merchandising functions will report to T. Scott King, interim CEO, the company stated in the filing. In addition, Gordman’s announced that Jason Neimark had resigned from the board of directors. The board appointed Brian Urbanek as a Class II director and member of its compensation, nominating and corporate governance committees. Urbanek is a managing director of Sun Capital Partners, Inc., an affiliate of Gordman’s principal stockholder, Sun Gordmans.
