Home Depot Hires To Get Back In Black

The Home Depot said today that it would hire more than 60,000 seasonal associates in time for the company’s second annual series of Spring Black Friday events.
Home Depot is promoting its Spring Black Friday as the unofficial start of seasonal shopping. Spring Black Friday, the company stated, marks the start of home improvement’s busiest shopping season. The initiative will launch market-by-market based on geography and climate over four spring weekends. As part of the event, Home Depot will reduce prices on hundreds of popular spring products including items for the patio and grill as well as lawn care, outdoor power, eco-friendly gardening and lawn care merchandise.
In consequence, Home Depot will hire and train new seasonal associates in every market during the month of February and March. Additionally, it plans to add new permanent full-time and part-time positions to stores for the second year in a row.
“As we have stated in the past, spring is our Christmas and traffic is at its highest during this season,” said Craig Menear, executive vp/merchandising. “Hiring seasonal associates and offering door busting deals will ensure our customers have all of the service, know-how and value they need as they look to take on outdoor projects to improve the appearance of their home.”
