Household Essentials Purchases Whitney Designs Assets

Household Essentials LLC announced today that it has purchased the assets of Whitney Design. In November 2009, Whitney Design filed a voluntary Chapter 11.
Household Essentials will take over Whitney’s offices and distribution center in Hazelwood, MO, and the senior management team will be the same as it was at Whitney Design. James Glenn is CEO and president, and Mark Brown is the senior vp of finance and CFO. Household Essentials will also hire most of the employees of Whitney Design, according to the company.
Household Essentials plans to increase product offerings and develop complementary products to the acquired product lines. Glenn said via statement that Household Essentials has developed a new line of products to supply customers with high-quality and competitively priced products to be introduced at the upcoming International Home + Housewares Show held in Chicago in March.
“Household Essentials will focus on bringing high-quality innovative products to the market with a high concentration on customer service and delivery,” said Glenn. “Household Essentials will look for acquisition candidates where it makes strategic sense for the business, and offer our customers enhanced products and a broader selection.”
