Bloomingdale’s Daniel Leppo, Bass Pro Shops’ Johnny Morris and Select Brands’ William Endres will be honored by the Housewares Charity Foundation (HCF) during its annual Housewares Cares Gala on Monday, March 16 during The Inspired Home Show.
Leppo, evp and GMM for home furnishings, menswear and childrens, is the 2020 HCF Humanitarian of the Year. Morris, founder and CEO of Bass Pro Shops, will receive the 2020 HCF award for Lifetime Achievement for Retail Innovation. Endres, president of Select Brands, will receive the 2020 HCF Lifetime Achievement award.
The 2020 HCF Gala, to be held at the Chicago Navy Pier, will start with a reception at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the HCF’s legacy charity, as well as the James Beard Foundation; Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife Foundation; and Winning With Wyatt, supporting pediatric brain tumor research.
HCF has raised more than $51 million collectively for BCRF and other causes since its first gala in 1998.
Co-chairs for the 2020 gala are Ron Diamond, president of Conair Corp., and Derek Miller, president of the International Housewares Association.
The gala will include auctions and entertainment, along with the honoree tributes. In partnership with the James Beard Foundation, the gala will begin with a reception featuring the 2020 All-Star Chef Line-up: Rick Bayless, Frontera; Abe Conlon, Fat Rice; Abra Berens, Granor Farm; Christina Cikowski and Josh Culp, Honey Butter Fried Chicken; Debbie Gold, Top Chef; Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark, Parachute; Katsuji Tanabe, Barrio; and Fabio Viviani, Bar Siena. Dinner will feature a three-course meal designed by chef Tony Mantuano, formerly of Spiaggia.
