Two events focused on the next generation of the housewares supply chain will be held during the 2019 International Home + Housewares Show, March 2-5 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
Young home and housewares professionals currently in the industry are invited to network with their peers at the Housewares Young Professional Event (HYPE) on Saturday, March 2 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom Lobby (S100), South Building.
Guests are welcome to bring other young executives from the industry and enjoy cocktails and conversation. The event is hosted by IHA’s Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC), a group of members actively engaged in the housewares industry.
While no ticket or reservation is needed for HYPE, attendees are encouraged to bring a business card for a chance to win two tickets to the Housewares Cares Gala presented by the Housewares Charity Foundation on Monday, March 4.
IHA is helping to encourage the next generation of housewares suppliers by bringing college students to the industry with an Experience Day on Sunday, March 3. Through Experience Day, the students are exposed to the housewares industry by seeing the industry marketplace and meeting executives.
More than 100 students from colleges and universities across the country are expected to participate. The day will begin with breakfast roundtables with members of IHA’s Young Professionals Advisory Council. Then the students will walk the show floor to learn about trends and advances in design, engineering and manufacturing and to see commerce in action as they watch exhibitors interact with potential buyers to position their brands and products for sale.
