The International Housewares Association said it has laid off three staff members, including vp Jon Jesse, as a cost-reducing measure in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Jesse, a former vp and housewares DMM at Kohl’s, joined IHA in 2015 as vp/industry development. In addition to the three layoffs, an open position at IHA will not be filled, according to the association.
“Coronavirus has greatly impacted the entire home and housewares industry, and the International Housewares Association is no exception with the cancellation of The Inspired Home Show 2020 and the related loss of revenue,” said Derek Miller, IHA president. “It has become very clear that IHA will have to adapt and change to cope with this reality. As such, we unfortunately had to lay off three staff members yesterday as a step to reduce expenses— most notably Jon Jesse from our vp team.”
