Ikea recently announced that it would open its first city-center location in the U.S., dubbed the Ikea Planning Studio, in New York. The company said that the business will open on April 15.
Located at 999 Third Avenue in Manhattan, the Ikea Planning Studio will focus on providing inspiration and smart solutions for city living and small spaces. Customers will be able to shop small-space and city-living solutions, including Ikea’s typical room vignettes, and browse popular Ikea furnishings.
Ikea employees with expertise in designing spaces and planning home projects can assist customers in getting their own initiatives going, by appointment. Customers who purchases items at the Planning Studio can arrange for home delivery, for a charge, and arrange for additional services such as furniture assembly and installation.
The store will welcome walk-ins, but to help consumers take full advantage of Planning Studio services, Ikea will launch an online and mobile booking tool shoppers can use to schedule appointments and maximize their time with planning specialists.
“We conducted extensive research about city living, and we believe New Yorkers will see their needs reflected in this new concept,” said Leontyne Green Sykes, Ikea retail U.S. COO. “We hope the Planning Studio will serve as a convenient destination for design expertise and stylish, multi-functional home furnishing solutions.”
