Ikea is planning to open its upcoming St. Louis store 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30. The store opening will expand Ikea’s presence in the Midwestern United States, the company related, and become the company’s first store in Missouri, and 41st in the U.S.
The closest existing Ikea stores are located in the Chicago-area and Merriam, KS, the company noted.
The 380,000 square-foot future Ikea St. Louis store, still under construction, is situated on 21 acres along Interstate-64 at Vandeventer Avenue in the city’s Cortex Innovation District. The store will support Missouri’s largest rooftop solar array, consistent with the the retailer’s renewable energy presence at 90% of its U.S. locations, the company noted.
“We are thrilled by the construction progress made to date, and believe the remaining milestones and interior build-up will be completed by end of September,” said John Achillea, Ikea’s St. Louis store manager. “Besides furnishing our store, we are focused on training the 300 co-workers joining the Ikea family.”
