Ikea is getting into the pet space as stores in the U.S. begin to roll out the new Lurvig collection during October.
In developing the collection, the company said it employed trained veterinarians and pet-loving designers. The intention was to create pet-friendly furniture that the consumer might consider stylish, long-lasting, affordable and compatible with existing home furnishings, Ikea noted. Design also keeps the pet’s perspective in mind, the company added, taking natural needs and behaviors as starting points.
Products include the $4.99 Lurvig cat house, with a design that fits into the Kallax shelving unit; the $49.99 Lurvig cat/dog bed, based on the company’s Klippan sofa; the $24.99 Lurvig travel bag for pets; and $1.99 bowl. The Lurvig collection rollout will begin October 1 and continue through spring 2020.
