The Ikea Place app is relaunching with a new design and added features, combining augmented reality and artiﬁcial intelligence.
First launched in 2017, the Ikea app gave consumers the means to virtually place true-to-scale models of the company’s furniture in their own homes. In its redesigned form, the app is easier to use and now offers the latest artificial reality technology combined with smart home furnishings solutions. The Ikea Place app enables shoppers to virtually evaluate 7,000 products.
Key features of the Ikea Place app include:
- For You Feed. Consumers can tap a daily stream of inspiration, curated collections and product announcements they can experience in AR.
- Multiplacement. Shoppers can view several items together in the app to see what works in combination.
- Room Sets. The technology enables consumers to virtually check out entire room sets, with just a few control taps in the app.
- Proﬁle and Wishlist. Shoppers can file products trialed in AR for future purchase or gifting.
“Sometimes we all need that little bit of inspiration that sparks new ideas,” said Gerry Rogers, Inter Ikea Group digital transformation leader. “That’s exactly what we want to achieve with Ikea Place.”
Consumers can upload the updated Ikea Place app to supported iOS devices. Ikea plans to roll out an updated Android version of the app in the near future.
