International Market Centers has issued a statement about the change it has announced for the January 2016 Winter Las Vegas Market. The statement expands upon and clarifies the reasons for the shift it made of dates for the market held at the Las Vegas World Market Center.
The statement, which comes from Bob Maricich, IMC CEO, reads:
“Earlier this week Las Vegas Market announced a shift in market dates for Winter 2016, from January 17 to 21 to January 24 to 28. As outlined in the press release, our goal in shifting dates was to create space between the Atlanta and Dallas markets to accommodate buyers, manufacturers and designers.
“The new date pattern avoids conflict with Atlanta completely and minimizes an overlap with Dallas’ market week, with the last three days affected. Las Vegas’ weekend traffic makes a Thursday-Tuesday pattern untenable for buyers and exhibitors. Date issues are virtually unavoidable during the congested winter calendar, and this is the pattern that we felt would cause the least amount of hardship based on our tenancy. It also enables us to resume our former date pattern— Las Vegas Market previously held its Winter Market the last week in January, until we shifted to an earlier date pattern for the 2015 show to align with Design & Construction Week. Further, during the dates we selected, we expect some of the lowest hotel rates to further make our customer’s buying experience more affordable.
“We continue to see very strong growth and set another attendance record this January, with Winter Market 2015 registering the highest attendance numbers in our nearly 10-year history, and a 21% jump in attendance in the gift and home décor segment.
“At the end of the day, our customers are our primary focus; we attribute our remarkable success to listening to their needs and doing what is in their best interest. We would not be the fastest-growing market in the industry without them.”
