iRobot has launched its Braava Jet Mopping Robot, which is designed to mop hard floor surfaces with high amounts of traffic, the company said.
“iRobot is focused on significant growth opportunities in the consumer robotic technology market,” said Colin Angle, chairman and CEO, iRobot. “To capitalize, we will continue to diversify our home robot offerings, identifying new product categories ripe for growth and exploring other opportunities within the connected home. We are excited to bring Braava jet to market, a robot that addresses yet another important customer cleaning need.”
According to the company, the unit works with Braava jet cleaning pads to clean a range of hard floor cleaning jobs, from wet mopping and damp sweeping to dusting. The wet mopping and damp sweeping pads, which contain a water-activated cleaning agent, also leave a clean scent.
The Braava is said to maneuver around obstacles in its path and cleans along furniture, walls and fixtures. Its precision jet spray and vibrating cleaning head help loosen dirt and stains while the cleaning pads break up and lock away debris. To keep Braava from entering unwanted areas, users can create an invisible boundary with its Virtual Wall Mode. It also includes a lithium ion battery, a battery charger and two of each type of cleaning pad.
Braava Jet is currently available with a suggested retail price of $199 on the company’s website, and will be available in major retail stores in April. The unit’s cleaning pads retail for $7.99 for a box of 10. Reusable, washable cleaning pads retail for $19.99 for a box of two.
