Jarden Kicks Off Ball Mason Jar Auction For Charity

Jarden Home Brands, manufacturers of Ball brand home canning jars, recently launched its Ball Mason Jar Celebrity Auction on eBay.

Announced during the company’s fifth annual International Can-It-Forward-Day this past weekend, the auction comprises a collection of autographed and filled Ball Heritage Collection Pint Jars, signed by celebrity chefs, athletes and television stars.

Jarden noted that 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to No Kid Hungry, a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. The auction runs through August 11.

There are more than 35 celebrity jars for the auction, filled with items such as chili pepper, tea, seed packets, unique recipes and more. The jars are limited edition Ball Heritage Collection Pint Jars in purple, which celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Ball Brothers’ mason jar. They are also the final release in a three-year Heritage Collection series.

“We’re dedicated to helping our canning community provide safe and effective ways to feed their family, so working with No Kid Hungry to help end childhood hunger in the broader community was a natural fit with our mission,” said Chris Carlisle, gm/fresh preserving at Jarden Home Brands. “We also love inspiring and seeing the creativity of our fans beyond canning, from inventive recipes to clever DIY home solutions.”

In addition, Jarden is also offering the Ball Home Canning Discovery Kit for a sale price of $5 (from the original SRP of $11.99).

The company will also soon release a video of the International Can-It-Forward Day live webcast, so consumers will be able to view canning demonstrations from four Ball blogger ambassadors.
