After recognizing a growing need in the industry for an educational forum focused on e-commerce, Sonya Ruff Jarvis, managing member, Jarvis Consultants, founded the Home Improvement eRetailer Summit.
Ruff Jarvis said the inaugural summit, which will be held in Fort Lauderdale, FL, this month, features a curated environment that will bring together retailers, distributors and suppliers specifically interested in increasing sales of home improvement products through the online channel.
“I am able to talk to the industry a lot and I heard there was a void in the industry, specific to home improvement, that brings together and educates both the supplier and retailer and makes that face to face connection,” she said. “It’s an e-commerce face-to-face event specifically designed for the home improvement market but with a composition of retailers that are across a lot of different categories.”
The summit is geared to sellers of hardware and tools, storage and organization, home décor, home environment, building materials, outdoor living and decorative hardware. The forum is also positioned as an intimate event, with pre-qualified e-retailers and strictly invited attendees.
At the summit, e-retailers will have the opportunity to meet suppliers interested in growing their online sales, explain their online approach and how it may differ from the brick-and-mortar approach, what they are looking for in a successful partner and speak to e-commerce content.
The event features a lineup of speakers, including David Goldsholle, founder of Hardwareandtools.com, Adam Sinoway, senior director of Wayfair.com, and a panel of bloggers.
The summit’s advisory council, which includes Sears.com and Organizeit.com, collaborated on the summit’s event schedule, and will also include educational sessions for the e-retailers, culminating with private face-to-face meetings between suppliers and their selected e-retailer.
