J.C. Penney Debuts Cooks Signature Line

J.C. Penney has expanded its proprietary Cooks assortment with the debut of its new Signature line, which is positioned by the retailer as an “elevated” selection of small kitchen electrics, cookware and cutlery.

The initial launch includes cookware sets and frying pans that are now available in 600 stores and at jcp.com, with a broader selection of products scheduled to be in stores in October.

“Home is an important growth category and the addition of Cooks Signature to our J.C. Penney home portfolio enables us to appeal to a wide customer base seeking quality design and construction at an attainable price,” said John Tighe, chief merchant for J.C. Penney.

According to the retailer, the collection includes 11-piece and 14-piece cookware sets that are built with a hard-anodized aluminum body said to distribute heat evenly, making it twice as strong as stainless steel. Each piece is also triple coated with Matrix non-stick coating offering optimal food release and easy cleaning.

The 11-piece cookware set, available on sale for $179.99, includes two professional grade frying pans, one sauté pan, two saucepans, tempered glass lids, a stock pot and steamer insert. For $199.99 on sale, the 14-piece set is ideal for larger families and features an added pasta insert, fry pan and saucepan with lid. All Cooks Signature cookware is dishwasher safe and designed to withstand the rigorous demands of the everyday kitchen, the company noted.

Small electrics and cutlery within the Cooks Signature line will be in stores on October 18. The items will include an 8-quart programmable slow cooker, stainless steel toaster, 14-cup programmable coffeemaker, six-slice convection oven and a 15-piece high-performance knife set with storage block and built-in knife sharpener.
