JCPenney ‘Pleased’ With Holiday Period Performance

In a brief statement, J.C. Penney Company, Inc. reported today that the company is pleased with its  retail performance for the holiday period, showing continued progress in its turnaround efforts.

Customers responded well to the company’s offerings this holiday shopping season, both in store and online, according to the company.

The statement followed JCPenney’s announcement in early December that for the fiscal month ending November 30, 2013, which includes Thanksgiving weekend, the company’s comparable store sales grew 10.1% over last year. The company also noted that its e-commerce sales through were strong, running well ahead of last year, consistent with last month’s trend.
