Kai USA has introduced its new Luna kitchen cutlery line.
The Luna series features what the company said is a hammered blade finish designed to help food release more quickly from the blade. The hammered indentations are designed to create tiny air pockets between the food and the blade, which help to prevent sticking.
The blades of the Luna cutlery line are made of high-carbon stainless steel that Kai said has been hardened for edge retention, strength and rigidity, while the blade’s mirror polish enhances stain and corrosion resistance. The handles of the Luna line are lightweight and have soft-grip overlays on the top and bottom of the handle that provide a secure, comfortable grip, which could be helpful in wet conditions in the kitchen or at the sink, for example.
Initially, the Luna series will include an 8-inch chef’s knife; 7-inch santoku; 6.5-inch multi-utility; 8.25-inch bread; 4-inch citrus and 3.5-inch paring knife. The chef’s knife, multi-utility, and paring are available in Kai’s 3-piece essential set. Prices in the series range from $20 to $25 for each individual knife and each comes with a sheath for easy and safe storage.
