Keurig Green Mountain, Inc., has expanded its partnership with The Coca Cola Co., which now covers select beverages from the soft drink producer’s portfolio of still brands developed for preparation in the Keurig hot brewing system in the United States and Canada, according to an announcement from the companies. The deal expands with the introduction of Honest Tea products, K-Cup versions of what is the nation’s top organic bottled iced tea label and the first brand from Coca Cola available in Keurig’s own packs, the companies related.
In February 2014, Keurig and Coca-Cola signed a 10-year agreement to collaborate on product development and introduction for the upcoming Keurig Cold at-home beverage system, the companies noted. Under the agreement, Coca-Cola acquired a 10% equity position in Keurig and subsequently announced an intention to increase its stake up to 16%. The Keurig Cold at-home beverage system will launch in Keurig’s fiscal year 2015, the companies said. Honest Tea K-Cup packs will roll out through Keurig.com tomorrow in two varieties, unsweetened Just Green and Just Black as part of the company’s Brew Over Ice product line.
“As we began to collaborate with The Coca Cola Co. on the development of their brands for our Keurig Cold system, the opportunity to incorporate certain Coca-Cola brands, like Honest Tea, into our Brew Over Ice selections for our Keurig hot brewing system became an exciting possibility,” Mark Wood, Keurig senior vp/global hot systems said in announcing the deal expansion. “Whether hot or cold, adding great brands like Honest Tea to the Keurig system is a part of our ongoing mission to provide consumers with unparalleled choice and variety.”
