The debut of Keurig’s much anticipated Kold home beverage maker will happen this fall as planned, but consumers initially will be able to purchase the new unit only at Keurig.com.
Calling the initial rollout strategy “deliberate,” Keurig officials said Kold would be available at retail in select U.S. markets towards the end of this year and into the beginning of 2016.
While company officials did not mention specific markets, a map provided by Keurig during an investor presentation highlighted several larger cities that appeared to indicate New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles. National distribution is planned for the fourth quarter of 2016.
It is also not known what retailer or retailers would initially carry Kold.
With a pricepoint ranging from $299 to $369, the Kold system will feature flavor pods from several leading beverage brands including Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper/Snapple. In addition, Keurig has developed six proprietary flavor profiles that include craft sodas, a sports drink, flavored water, sparkling water and teas.
