Keurig Recalling More Than 7 Million Coffeemakers

Keurig is recalling more than 7 million MINI Plus Brewing Systems following reports of 90 burn-related injuries from hot water escaping from the unit, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on Tuesday.

The recall involves the MINI Brewing System with model number K10 (previously identified as model number B31) and have an identification number starting with “31.” Units involved in the recall were sold from December 2009 through December 2014 at Kmart, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart and other retailers nationwide.

According to the CPSC, Keurig has received about 200 reports of hot liquid escaping from the brewer, including the aforementioned reports of burn-related injuries.

Consumers that own the unit should contact Keurig for a free repair. The company is also offering steps to avoid a burn injury, the CPSC said.

About 6.6 million units involved in the recall were sold in the United States with another 564,000 sold in Canada.
