KitchenAid To Preview Expanded Smart Home Mix At CES

Two kitchen electrics items from KitchenAid and the WLabs brands will be among a host of new smart kitchen products to debut from Whirlpool at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show.

“Evolving our presence at CES to a multi-brand experience is a natural progression as we roll-out portfolio-wide smart innovations to meet the demand for a smart home ecosystem,” said Brett Dibkey, Whirlpool Corporation vp/brand and strategy in North America. “As a corporation, we’re singularly focused on using smart technology to positively change our consumers’ lives.”

The new items include the Cook Processor Connect and WLab Smart Countertop Oven.

The KitchenAid Cook Processor Connect is touted by the company as a one-stop shop for home cooks by providing a host of tools needed to make meals at home. This includes step-by-step guidance, an integrated ingredient weight scale, and various attachments that handle a variety of tasks from steaming and stewing to mincing and pureeing.

Also on display at the annual event in Las Vegas will be the WLab Smart Countertop Oven. According to the company, the unit is equipped with food identification technology that automatically recognizes a variety of food placed in the oven. It sets the time and temperature accordingly for an output that is cooked to the desired level of doneness. WLabs is a brand under Whirlpool Corporation’s WLabs innovation incubator.

Whirlpool products will also connect to the online recipe platform Yummly. Already live on select smart Whirlpool brand appliances, the Yummly Guided Cooking feature offers recipes that connect to Whirlpool appliances to set and change temperatures, settings and cook times.
