Kohl’s Closing Off/Aisle Discount Store Concept

Four years after it started its Off/Aisle discount retail concept test, Kohl’s is ending the experiment.

According to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the company will shut its four locations, three in Wisconsin and one in New Jersey, on August 3.

Citing a memo from Jon Grosso, Kohl’s executive vice president, he said the retailer is shutting the Off/Aisle concept because improved inventory management by the retailer led to an inventory shortage for Off/Aisle.

When launched in 2015, the strategy behind Off/Aisle was to offer shoppers “like new” clothing, accessories and home goods returned to Kohl’s stores or Kohl’s e-commerce platform.
