Kris Malkoski, Arc Americas

kris_malkoski_arcThe August 19 edition of HOMEWORLD BUSINESS® revealed the 14th annual “People To Watch” in housewares during the next 12 months.

Selected by HomeWorld Business editors, “People To Watch” represents a cross section of a diverse housewares business— from established to newly installed company leaders; from large to small operations, from big-box to specialty retailers; from trade show managers to celebrity endorsers.

The HomeWorld “People To Watch” are in the spotlight not only for how they might impact their respective organizations in the coming months, but also for how they might impact the overall housewares business.

Kris Malkoski, Arc Americas, CEO

CREDENTIALS: While Kris Malkoski was recently named CEO of Arc Americas, the North American division of glassware manufacturer Arc International, she is no stranger to the housewares industry. Malkoski was most recently president, global business and chief commercial officer for World Kitchen, and had previously served as vp/general manager for the Craftsman brand, as well as chief marketing officer and chief people officer for Ubiquity Brands.

While at World Kitchen she restructured the various brand, sales and marketing teams behind the company’s wholesale business and global product development in order to more directly engage customers through advanced digital, social and mobile reach.

WHAT TO WATCH: With her experience in recognizing and tapping into synergies between brands under one roof, Malkoski is poised to lead Arc Americas while working closely with Arc International, home to several glassware brands including Arcopal, Cristal d’Arques Paris, Luminarc, Arcoroc and Chef & Sommelier. The company is working to reach the consumer in new ways, telling its various brand stories in a fresh, more direct way. The company recently launched initiatives focused on improving operating performance, gross sales and margins and reducing SG&A, in addition to a new digital/e-commerce platform.

Malkoski said she will be working with Arc to better communicate the capabilities its glassware can bring to the table, such as its higher heat stand points and how Arc can deliver on consumer requirements. The task at hand comes at a challenging time for the glassware industry as a whole, as many of the players are all faced with re-telling their stories in light of the new environment on the retail side.

PERSPECTIVE: “I am very excited about where Arc is headed as a leader in the housewares industry. Our winning aspiration is to be the most flexible, reliable and value added supplier of glass housewares products to our customers. Since joining Arc in April, we have defined our next three year growth and performance strategy; hired talent to enhance capabilities and launched a company-wide continuous improvement initiative to ensure we achieve our goals,” said Malkoski.
