Kroger has named Valerie Jabbar as the company’s group vp/merchandising, effective September 1. She had been president of Kroger’s Ralphs division.
Jabbar started her career with the supermarket chain in 1987 as a clerk at Fry’s, and over the past 31 years has held a variety of leadership roles. Before her promotion to president of Ralphs in 2016, she was vp/merchandising of the company’s Mid-Atlantic division before joining the Ralphs division in 2013 as vp/merchandising.
“Valerie brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and insight to this role,” said Mike Donnelly, Kroger’s evp/COO. “As we continue the work of Restock Kroger, her ability to lead and deliver for our associates and customers will continue to transform our business.”
Mike Murphy, currently vp/operations for the company’s Columbus division, will succeed Jabbar as president of the Ralphs division.
