Kroger Names McKinney As Fry’s Food Stores President

The Kroger Co. has announced that it has promoted Steve McKinney to the position of president at its Fry’s Food Stores division. He had been vp/operations at the company’s Ralphs division from 2007, it noted.

McKinney succeeds Jon Flora, who passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago, Kroger stated.

McKinney began his Kroger career in 1981 as a clerk with Florida Choice Supermarkets, a former Kroger banner, according to the parent company, then, in 1988, he joined Fry’s Food Stores in Phoenix, where he served in various leadership positions, including store manager, deli director, and executive director of operations. Kroger named him vp/operations at Fry’s, then vp/operations for its Southwest division before he moved to his current role at Ralphs in 2007.

“In his 31 years with the company, Steve has demonstrated a deep knowledge of our industry, excellence in operations, and a passion for serving our customers and our associates,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s president and COO. “Steve has the expertise and energy to lead Fry’s in the years ahead.”

Fry’s Food Stores operates 119 supermarkets and pharmacies, as well as 70 fuel centers, in Arizona, Kroger pointed out.
