As part of an initiative to build new ways to serve customers, Kroger and its United Kingdom-based e-commerce partner Ocado have selected Groveland, FL, as their second customer fulfillment center location they are developing.
The new Kroger and Ocado customer fulfillment center— an automated warehouse facility with digital and robotic capabilities, also known as a “shed”— is one of 20 the retailer plans to open. Groveland is the second location Kroger has identified as a site. The first was announced for Monroe, OH, near Kroger’s Cincinnati’s headquarters. Kroger also has said that it was seeking a site in the Middle Atlantic states.
“Kroger is incredibly excited to construct one of our industry-leading customer fulfillment centers in Groveland, Florida, a city west of Orlando, through our relationship with Ocado,” said Alex Tosolini, Kroger’s svp/new business development. “Through our strategic partnership, we are leveraging advanced robotics technology and creative solutions to redefine the customer experience across America.”
