In a move to incorporate wellness into its operations, Kroger is working with musician Jewel to introduce a new health-related initiative.
The Wellness Experience by Kroger and Jewel will launch with a World Mental Health Day Summit & Concert on October 10 featuring artists, business leaders and mental health experts in an event intended to inspire, educate and entertain. For the past two years, Kroger, Jewel and Inclusion Cos. have partnered to create physical, emotional and mental wellness events. The Wellness Experience platform expands the partnership to include monthly digital events and healthy living resources.
The free live-stream Wellness Experience event will focus on mindfulness and mental wellness including practices to combat depression and anxiety. It will address the topics through interviews with mental health professionals, personal stories, songs and expert interviews to provide viewers with actionable steps to improve their well-being. In addition to Jewel, participants will range from Kroger chairman and CEO Rodney McMullen and the company’s chief medical officer Dr. Marc Watkins to actor and philanthropist Frankie Grande and rock band Haim.
The event will also raise funds to support the Inspiring Children Foundation and its COVID-19 mental health programs. ICF is a Las Vegas-based non-profit that helps at-risk young people suffering with financial distress, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation while working to revolutionize youth development by providing an ideal model of education in underserved communities.
“We launched The Wellness Experience to inspire everyone to live healthier lives,” said Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health. “The goal is to provide easy steps and solutions that combine health, wellness and nutrition and connect with our customers on a personal level. The platform also provides Kroger Health with an additional way to highlight the helpful and accessible products, services and resources we offer to support our customers’ well-being.”
