Las Vegas Market Unveils First Look Trends

The Las Vegas Market’s First Look trend forecast will showcase four central themes: Romantics & Realists, Easy Now: Housewares & Dining, Year of the Dog and Storytellers.

Today, November 14, is the deadline for market exhibitors to submit theme-related products, including furniture, home décor, gifts and housewares, for consideration in the First Look display, educational seminar and at-market companion guide. The winter Las Vegas Market is slated for January 28 to February 1, 2018. The themes include:

  • Romantics & Realists. In releasing their top color picks for 2018, paint brands are promoting fiery red, watery blues, stately grays and atmospheric neutrals. Together, they recall the palettes of both romantic and realist painters. Merchandise selections will include accent furniture, occasional tables, upholstery, area rugs, wall décor and wallpaper. Looks will feature warm and natural wood finishes, modern silhouettes in white finishes, warm metal finishes, fresh takes on traditional forms, landscapes and floral patterns, and cognac-colored leather.
  • Easy Now: Housewares & Dining. First Look will feature brunch-friendly housewares and more including casual dining sets, space-saving buffets, bistro tables/chairs, bar carts, freestanding kitchen islands, dinnerware, glassware, serveware, flatware, table linens, housewares, small appliances, gourmet products and on-the-go beverage containers.
  • Year of the Dog. The upcoming year is the Year of the Dog, and First Look will put a spotlight on things canine in a playful vignette that crosses all product categories. Merchandise selections run the gamut of home furnishings, holiday items, gifts and tabletop that feature pet-related motifs.
  • Storytellers. First Look celebrates makers with its Storytellers theme, this season’s nod to handmade, fair trade and certified home and gift products. Any products that incorporate creativity, craftsmanship and good cause suit the category.

“Las Vegas Market is the gift, home décor and furniture industry’s leading source for forward-thinking design, color and trend direction,” said Karen Olson, IMC’s svp/marketing. “Now in its 14th incarnation, our First Look presentation spotlights on-trend products featured at market.
