The International Home + Housewares Show’s Discover Design showcase, home to 116 companies offering “inspired design and cutting-edge product innovation,” according to the sponsor, the International Housewares Association, is sold-out for 2013. Discover Design operates as part of the Dine + Design Expo in the South Building of the show’s home facility, Chicago’s McCormick Place.
New companies exhibiting this year are, IHA pointed out, Aesthetic Movement, Areaware, Teroforma, Legnoart, Menu and Present Time. Returning in 2013 are Alessi, Blomus, Joseph Joseph, Magisso, Nambe, Room Copenhagen and Serene House. A new addition in 2013, Design Debut, located in booth S4283, will introduce five new companies: Anne Black, Aramis, Deglon S.A., Headsprung and Toast Living.
Events planned for Discover Design, stated IHA, include:
- A Specialty Retailer & Media Reception at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, where invited buyers and media can mingle with the exhibitors and their affiliated designers.
- A Discover Design Global Innovation Awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4.
- A Discover Design Lounge that includes a Wine Bar and Cafe.
Once again, Discover Design companies qualifies to compete for a Global Innovation Award, or gia, for product innovation and booth design. Each company submitted two new products and one collection for gia consideration. An invitation-only gia dinner on Sunday, March 3 will include a ceremony to fete the winners.
The Show in the Discover Design Gallery on the exhibit floor near booth S3283 will highlight gia submissions, IHA noted.
