Meijer Enters Cleveland Market, Expands Delivery From Shipt

Meijer has been expanding into metro Cleveland over the past couple of weeks, opening its first three stores in the city’s suburbs and introducing a home delivery service.

The home delivery service that Meijer engaged is Shipt, which is owned by Target.

The Cleveland-area stores are in the towns of Avon, Mentor and Stow. Each of the 155,000-square-foot supercenters serves customers 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, and they represent three of the five stores Meijer plans to open this year.

With the launch of the delivery service, Meijer noted, more than 90,000 households in Avon, Mentor and Stow can choose from a list of 70,000 items and have them delivered to their homes from one of the new stores.

Shipt, acquired by Target in 2017, also works with CVS and H-E-B. Meijer began working with Shipt prior to that company’s acquisition by Target and has continued the relationship since then. Select Meijer stores in Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana, as well as Ohio, offer Shipt delivery services.
