Meijer will host its first virtual Supplier Diversity Summit to give certified minority-, LGBTQ-, woman-, veteran- and disability-owned businesses nationwide the opportunity to showcase their offerings for its merchants.
Qualifying businesses with retail-ready products in beauty and personal care, over-the-counter and wellness, general merchandise, and grocery categories can apply through October 9 for consideration. The event will occur on November 12.
Meijer noted that it is partnering with Efficient Collaborative Retail Marketing and its subsidiary product discovery tool, RangeMe, to host the event through the company’s ECRM Connect virtual platform. Meijer teams will review submissions and select the vendors they would like to meet at the virtual summit. Suppliers not chosen for the summit will remain on the RangeMe registration tool and may be reviewed by Meijer merchants in the future as business needs change.
Although they may not qualify for November’s event, diverse vendors carrying services or products outside of the categories set for the summit can submit their information for consideration through the retailer’s prospective vendor page.
“Focusing on supplier diversity is an important part of our diversity, equity and inclusion journey,” said Rick Keyes, Meijer president and CEO. “While we have always valued diverse partnerships, this event exemplifies our commitment to building a more inclusive vendor community which will better serve our customers.”
