Microplane’s Herb & Salad Chopper, introduced last year, is a winner of the 2015 iF Design Award. The award recognizes products with design excellence, the company said, and the chopper was selected among nearly 5,000 entries from 53 countries.
The chopper is similar in style to a classic mezzaluna chopper and features dual blades that retract completely inside the tool for safety, blade protection and storage between uses. The tool was designed to chop herbs like basil, rosemary, cilantro and parsley, as well as larger greens, radishes, scallions, tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger and more.
To retract and expand the blades, users pull out and lift a lever located at the chopper’s base. Top rack dishwasher safe, the chopper has an ergonomic design and soft grip handle, the company said. It has a suggested retail price of $13.95 and will be on display at the International Home + Housewares Show in March.
